Siddhartha- This book is about the life of Siddhartha, a boy who spends his life in search of enlightenment. This is a book that I related to very well when I first read it, because I felt whichever lesson Siddhartha learned for the first time during his travels, I would learn it for the first time as well. The book can be taken in different ways. For example, some may think it's a guide to live by while some may think it's a tragedy. I believe that this makes the book more worthwhile, as it asks the reader if what they think the right thing to do actually is. Overall, it has helped shape who I am. http://www.amazon.com/Siddhartha-Modern-Library-Classics-Hermann/dp/0812974786/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

I Am America (And So Can You!) - This book is written by the comedian "Stephen Colbert", who wrote about his views on multiple subjects mostly in America. Throughout the book he pokes fun at things by claiming outrageous views, but I sometimes realized that his jokes may not be too far from the truth. http://www.amazon.com/Am-America-So-Can-You/dp/B0047GNCVC/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1295948740&sr=1-1

The Seventh Tower - I read this series during elementary and middle school, and it encouraged me to read, even anticipating when the author would release the next book. Besides encouraging me to read, it may have also taught me the value of teamwork. http://www.amazon.com/Fall-Seventh-Tower-1/dp/0439176824/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1295948762&sr=1-1

  1. I Am America is hilarious. A great piece of satire along with John Stewart's book, "America (The Book)".

  2. I liked Siddhartha too. It was like getting a lesson in a Buddhist way of looking at things, without the heavy lifting.
